There are those however, that love the classic wooden furniture that has been around for so long and can make your patio or deck area come alive with natural, wooden garden furniture.  When you are looking for a wooden garden furniture sale there are number of things you will have to take into consideration. Not all wooden garden furniture is alike, with different styles, woods and greatly differences prices. Wood has a natural feel to it that you just cannot get with the other resin and synthetic garden furniture that is on the market.

What are the different woods available

Most people seem to know that teak wooden garden furniture is the finest of the wood furniture. It is the most expensive type of wooden furniture but is well worth it. Teak wood is resistant to all kinds of insects and as there are natural oils in the wood it also makes it naturally resistant to rot and decay. It does not have to be maintained that much as it is very strong, can resist various weather elements and even termites can’t get to it.

If you don’t want to spend the money that you will have to when buying teak there are lots of other options in the wooden furniture arena. There is cedar wood, western red and northern white cedar are your choices. Cedar is good for humid climates as it doesn’t absorb the heat and feels cool all the time. It also have a smell of cedar which repels insect. It may not be a good idea to live cedar furniture out in the wintertime and they can get water in between the cracks. Then when the air freezes it can create cracks in the wood. If you need to leave the furniture outdoors then make sure they are covered well during the winter months.

Redwood is probably the most beautiful of the woods as it has a beautiful red tone to it. The color does tend to fade over time and you will need to take care of this wood with oils.If you are going to buy wooden furniture made out of soft woods then they must be treated with stain for preservation. Softwoods are trees that have seed bearing cones like pine. One of the good things about this kind of wood is that you can choose any color stain you want when finishing the furniture.

Maintaining your wooden garden furniture

If you have the wooden furniture that is not teak and needs better care then it would be a good idea to give these woods a water resistant stain. Once a year its also a good idea to give the furniture a much deeper cleaning to remove the dirt or grime that has accumulated over the season. After cleaning it with some bleach and dish-washing soap added to water you can just allow it to air dry. If you have good covers for the furniture it would be much easier to maintain them over the long winter moths as well. the more careful you are in keeping your wooden garden furniture in good condition, the longer it will last you.
